Private/Custom Classes
A one-of-a-kind educational robotics experience
Looking for a one-of-a-kind educational robotics experience for your child? Sign up for a private tutoring series or put together a private class for just you and your child’s friends. All lessons and classes are taught by Edward Li, the CEO and lead designer of Barnabas Robotics products and curriculum.
Not interested in a custom class? No problem! Another great option is to build and learn at home with our kits, which include easy-to-follow lessons and videos.
STEP 1: Form your private group (1-6 students). Instructional costs vary by group size. (see below under Instructional Costs)
STEP 2: Select a project (see below under Project Options)
STEP 3: Select available dates + times for your group. The number of sessions and session durations vary by project (see below under Project Options)

"Through Edward's passion for engineering he has opened up the world of robotics, and much more, for my grandson. Edward has the innate creative ability of bringing different facets of robotics, combining it with his passion for kids, applying it to real life, and opening up a pathway to self-discovery. In Edward's classes he teaches so much more than robotics. He inspires dreams and opens up a world of possibilities."
- Susan Martinez (Grandparent)
"Barnabas was such an amazing introduction to robotics for my 7 year old! I was delighted by Edward's kind and attentive teaching style. Barnabas’ courses are designed to be fun and interactive while teaching high level engineering concepts to your child. If you want your child’s curiosity in S.T.E.A.M to grow through playful hands on curriculum, go with Barnabas Robotics!"
- David G (Parent, Los Angeles)
"I met Edward when he was starting the idea of Barnabas-Bots. A year later, I had the opportunity to co-teach with him for a summer program. I wish this was an experience I could have had as a child. The students learned to work together as a community exploring various facets of engineering - mechanical, electrical, hardware, and software. Persevering through multiple tedious and precise tasks of designing, assembling, and coding the robots, each student gained a better appreciation of the complexity of the electronics that surround us and a deeper understanding of their own interests in engineering. My favorite part is being able to encourage girls to be future engineers. "
- Valerie Sun (Elementary School Teacher, Los Angeles)
"My daughter, Leena, and I first met Ed and Vicky this past summer, when Leena was the lucky winner of a 2-hour private robotics lesson with Ed through an opportunity from her school. She learned a ton about robotics and electronics and had a blast as well, so much so that we decided to do another private lesson with Ed and include two of her friends this time over the kids' Winter Break. Mr. Ed was gracious enough to accommodate our group on relatively short notice and led all 3 girls in designing and building their very own battery-powered camper vans. Leena and her friends learned all about motors and cars, and how batteries generate power for cars. At the end of the lesson, all 3 proudly displayed their camper vans, racing them around the classroom. Leena's 2 friends also couldn't wait to show their parents their completed projects and share what they had absorbed for the day. We would highly recommend Barnabas Robotics to anyone who wants to introduce children to robotics, electronics and engineering concepts in a fun, engaging and tangible manner!"
- June Chow (Parent)
"I was very impressed with the Barnabas Robotics program and its knowledgeable, supportive and collaborative staff. This program draws from knowledge distributed across the major fields of engineering, including but not limited to computer science, mechanical engineering, rapid prototyping/3-dimensional printing, electrical engineering, control systems and human-robot/computer interaction. The students were able to learn from the above fields and apply their knowledge to build their own unique robots and their related systems through integration of the Engineering Design Process - ask, imagine, plan, create, improve. My students designed, created, analyzed and used computational systems that interacted with the physical and human environment. This allowed students to problem solve, brainstorm, design, follow a plan and personally reflect on their work through a series of trial-and-error processes. I highly recommend this program without any reservation! "
